Dublin taxi driver picks up Tony McCoy, asks if he heard about AP retiring

All world famous sportsmen look the same

Kevin McGillicuddy

Yes he was the real McCoy

One of the most famous and most recognisable jockeys, not to mind sportsmen in the world decided to announce his retirement on Saturday afternoon. The legendary AP McCoy is set to hang up his whip at the end of the season at the age of 40.

No concrete reason has yet been given for his decision and it seems a little odd that a man who is still riding multiple winners every week is giving up on a sport he has dominated for almost three decades. McCoy is back in Ireland for today’s action at Leopardstown but had a bit of an awkward moment when hopping into a taxi at Dublin airport last night.

Not known for being the shy types the driver promptly went on to tell McCoy and his wife Chantelle of the shock decision by the jockey to call it quits. Chanelle recalled the tale on Twitter last night

The Antrim man himself also took to twitter to thank those who have wished him well in his retirement
