Nobody needs reminding that Rory McIlroy is a good lad.
The press loves McIlroy because he’s level-headed, honest and generally a nice guy.
The public like him too for the same reason, and even after he had that whole Olympic fiasco of saying he wanted to play for Britain and then Ireland and then not at all he was forgiven for doing two incredible things.
One of which was taking over the Irish Open, making it a world class event and raising a bucket load for charity in the process.
And the other, well, it was something truly magical.
Who can forget when he appeared on the Late Late Toy Show last year and met 9-year-old Charlie Smyth.

Well, he’s done it again except this time with an elderly lady in America.
Noreen Murnane moved to America in 1963 from Ireland as part of Wish of a Lifetime, a non-profit that makes wishes come true for the older generation, she requested to meet her favourite golfer.
The 28-year-old is playing at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut this week and took time out of his day to catch up with Murnane.
Murnane suffered a stroke six years ago according to the golfer but got the chance to meet the Northern Irishman and asked McIlroy about his wedding, his injury and even nabbed a signed flag.
Here’s the clip in full.
