This US Open could prove the toughest one yet and, if Friday is anything to go by, we’re in for a hell of a weekend.
- First up, Tiger Woods slipped on his arse and then missed the cut with a two-round total of +16.
- Then Darren Clarke’s perfect putt was put off only by a joke of a green.
- Before Jason Day gave us all a scare by collapsing at the final hole.
But the picture of Rory McIlroy that is doing the rounds sums up just what a mammoth task the golfers are facing in the Washington course.
Jordan Spieth is back on top again with -5 after two rounds alongside Patrick Reed but Shane Lowry is just four shots behind them and we’re rooting for the Irish man to make something happen this weekend.
You have to look five shots further than that again though to find Rory McIlroy tied for 44th and it’s no wonder with some of the predicaments the Northern Irish man is finding himself in.
Granted, the course doesn’t help one bit and this picture of McIlroy is proof – if you ever needed any – of how little margin for error there is this week.
