Rory McIlroy is absolutely killing it.
The world number one has, unsurprisingly, been awarded the Golf Writers Trophy for the second time in three years.
McIlroy was the clear favourite for the prize after recording yet another exceptional season, winning two majors and playing an important part for the European team at September’s Ryder Cup.
The award, in place since 1951, is given to the European who has made the most outstanding contribution to golf throughout the year.
The 25-year-old is in good company with other two-time winners of the trophy including Nick Faldo, Padraig Harrington and Bernhard Langer.
Speaking about the honour, McIlroy said: “First of all I’d like to say a huge thank you to the members of the Association of Golf Writers who have felt me worthy to receive this honour, I really do appreciate it.
“To win it for the first time in 2012 felt like a great achievement but to win again in 2014 is testimony to what has been a truly fabulous year for me.”
