This is the most improbable birdie in the history of the good walk spoiled.
Disaster almost struck for Aaron Baddeley turned on Day 1 of the Texas Open.
All hope seemed lost for the Australian American golfer on the driveable par-4 17th hole. 336 yards away from the pin, Baddeley miscued his tee shot and saw the ball go flying into the rough behind the bunker, miles away from the green.
After taking an unplayable lie, he re-teed, and the subsequent extra stroke and miraculously holed his drive from 336 yards.
After hitting two tee shots, three strokes and amassing 650+ yards, Baddeley managed to make one under par.
“I just thought I’d just hit it straight and so I hit it and started walking and then heard the crowd going nuts,” Baddeley said. “I was like, wait, I just made birdie.”
