Only Rory McIlroy would be so disappointed at a round of 71.
The Northern Irish man shot one under par in the third round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship but, after missing just two fairways all afternoon, it could’ve been so much better.
McIlroy’s putting let him down on day three as he fell eight shots behind leader Martin Kaymer who shot a round of 65.
He conceded afterwards that he’s now only vying for a runners-up spot but the Down man was extremely downbeat in his interview with Sky Sports. So down in fact that it probably shows why he’s already one of the best of this generation.
