Harry Potter infiltrates the GAA
Things may be tough at the top but it sure is crowded at the bottom of the Allianz Football League, as Wicklow manager Johnny Magee has found out in his maiden campaign as the garden county’s manager.
The former Dublin player took over full time as manager last October but Wicklow suffered a very disappointing league campaign in the basement tier under his watch, winning just one game out of seven, and finishing in second last place in the table, level on points with London and only off the foot of the table by virtue of a better scoring average.
So after their last game of the League last Sunday, which saw them slump at home to the Exiles 2-8 to 0-12, Magee was asked where it had all gone wrong for the county who are normally pushing for promotion.
His answer was pure magic if you pardon the pun, as he explained that due to the loss of a number of players, such as Leighton Glynn, he is struggling to fill the void with experience footballers.
The quotes are carried in this week’s Wicklow People and we would love to know if he dropped in any other Harry Potter style quotes in the rest of his interview
