History was made today as Westmeath produced a stunning comeback to beat their Leinster rivals Meath by four points in their semi-final clash at Croke Park.
John Heslin and Kieran Martin were the scoring heroes for the maroons as they turned the tide during a thrilling second half.
It was the first time they ever beat the Royal County in the championship.
The excitement almost proved too much for the diligent soul running Westmeath’s Twitter account.
A dodgy start
Meath 0-8 to 0-2 ahead. They are not hectic but Westmeath are terrible so far. 23 minutes first half
