What a match.
Having watched the remarkably well-oiled machine that is Galway sweep Wexford aside earlier on Saturday, we were treated to a much more intense, nail-biting encounter at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Cork and Limerick went hammer and tongs in their Munster championship round-robin clash, producing some superlative hurling in what was box-office Saturday sporting drama.
And, despite trailing by three with six minutes to go, the Rebels will feel as though they let a win slip through their grasp.
Leading by a point, Darragh Fitzgibbon missed a gilt-edged goal chance with three minutes remaining that would have seen them home and hosed.
Fitzgibbon did point after that, as too did Pat Horgan, but it wasn’t enough to see Cork over the line as a spirited Limerick clinched a dramatic draw through Kyle Hayes, the 19-year-old smashing a nerveless point over the bar to level it up at 1-25 to 0-28.
Watch the highlights below. Breathless, end-to-end stuff. Horgan top-scored with 1-11 but what a score from Hayes to cap a riveting game.
