Steve Harmison has competed in some of the toughest sporting arenas in the world.
As England’s opening bowler he’s known what it’s like to feel the weight of expectation of a cricket-mad nation on his shoulders and he knows all about the work and dedication that took him to that point.
He was part of the historic Ashes victory in 2005, where England beat Australia over thrilling summer in a five Test battle that caught the imagination far beyond the normal cricket community.
He’s seen the other side of it too.
In the following Ashes in Australia he was tasked with bowling the opening ball of the entire series. It went wide, very wide, and the tone was set. Over the following six weeks Australia romped to series whitewash.
Now Harmison is in Ireland as part of #TheToughest Trade TV show and has been trying his hand at hurling with Borris-Ileigh GAA club in Co. Tipperary.
Brendan Maher, meanwhile, has gone to the somewhat sunnier climes of Australia to get to grips with cricket.
But, judging by the brilliant new trailer for the #TheToughest Trade, Harmison seems really impressed by what he’s seen in Tipp.
You can see in much more detail how Harmison got on when the show airs on RTE2 on Tuesday March 8th.
