Twelve of the best GAA images of 2016

Help us choose a winner

SportsJOE

How was that for you?

2016 was another unforgettable year for Gaelic games: Clare won the league but lost Davy, Rob Hennelly became a cause celebre as Mayo once more dominated the headlines, the Dublin winning machine rumbles quietly along, while Tipperary finally got that stripy monkey off their back.

But away from the headlines and Croke Park the summer unfolded in its own unique way in parishes the length and breadth of the country.

From the middle-aged dad contemplating one more time round the GAA sun, to the fan asleep in the ditch, the umpire taking snaps in a blizzard or the TV-watching lamb.

We asked you for your best GAA images of 2016 and you did not disappoint.

In fact, we got so many entries that the best we could do is narrow it down to our favourite 12, now we need you to pick a winner.

The top two will receive a copy of Sportsfile’s brilliant ‘Season of Sundays’.
