Tributes paid to Róisín Cryan, fiancée of Mayo footballer Conor Loftus

‘Róisín will be sadly missed’

Tributes have been paid to Róisín Cryan who has passed away at the age of 28.

Cryan, who was originally from Leitrim but was living in Ballina, County Mayo, died on Saturday.

Her fiance, Mayo GAA star Conor Loftus, was due to play in the Intermediate Championship Club Final with Crossmolina Deelrovers today, however the game was postponed as a result of the tragedy.

Roisin is survived by her parents, Joe and Marguerite Cryan, her siblings, Annmarie, Clare, Ruth, and Maeve, and her fiance Conor.

Her funeral notice reads:  “Róisín will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family.

“Forever cherished daughter of Joe and Marguerite, loving fiancé Conor Loftus, adored sisters Annmarie, Clare, Ruth and Maeve, Clare’s fiancé Eugene, the Loftus family, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours, work colleagues and a large circle of friends.

“Pre-deceased by grandparents William and Mai Cryan, Bernard and Annie Donohue, her cousin Michael, aunt Mary and uncle Hughie.”

Hundreds of people have paid their respects to Cryan with one writing: “Sincere sympathy to Joe, Marguerite, Annmarie, Clare, Ruth, Maeve, Conor and all the Cryan Donoghue and Loftus families on the sad death of Róisín. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”

Another wrote: “Deepest and sincerest sympathies to the Cryan family on the loss of Róisín. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her. May you all be comforted at this most difficult time. May she Rest in Peace, Amen.”

A third said: “Deepest sympathy to Marguerite, Joe, Annmarie, Clare, Ruth, Maeve, fiancé Conor & the extended Cryan family on the tragic passing of Róisín. Cherished memories of Róisín from our time in Scoil Mhuire and Carrick Community School. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time. Róisín will be always fondly remembered by those who knew and loved her.”
