Tipperary beat Cork for the first time in 72 years and everyone went crazy

SportsJOE

It’s the shock of the summer so far by some distance.

Tipperary withheld a second-half onslaught from Cork to win by 3-15 to 2-16 and take their place in the Munster Football Championship final against Kerry in Killarney on July 3.

That’s right. Football.

It was Tipp’s first victory over Cork in football since 1944, and it will cause much soul searching in the Rebel County.

Cork had come from nine points down to draw level in the final minute, but Tipp’s Kevin O’Halloran held his nerve to kick a 45 and a free in injury time to seal a famous victory.

Unsurprisingly, the result caused a minor meltdown on the internet.
