The referee for Kilkenny v Wexford got a flick of a hurley and the commentators loved it

There’s no mercy in hurling.

That was Anthony Daly’s succinct response after referee Diarmuid Kirwan took a clatter when throwing in the sliotar for the second half of Kilkenny v Wexford.

Michael Fennelly was identified as the culprit but Kirwan didn’t think the accidental pull warranted any disciplinary action.

Fennelly and Kilkenny have controlled the contest from the start, and are en route to a comprehensive win that will see them face Galway in the Leinster final.

Hat-tip to Damien Grimes for sending this our way.
