The half-forward line you picked on the greatest club hurling team of all time is sensational

Sheer class

SportsJOE

Never mind the best club hurling team of all-time, these lads would be in with a shot to make the greatest hurling team of all-time, period.

Last week, when we published the list of nominees for the half-forward line positions on the best hurling club team of all-time, we said it was the most difficult line to pick out of both the football and hurling teams so far.

And we meant it.

The results of the poll only illustrate just how difficult a selection it was. The great JBM doesn’t make the cut. Nor does Jamesie O’Connor.

Johnny Pilkington misses out, as does Joe Rabitte, while even the great Joe Connolly, the man behind one of the greatest ever All-Ireland winning speeches, doesn’t get a look in.

The reason they haven’t made it is because the three jerseys are occupied by three of the greatest players to ever play the game, with probably the greatest of them all topping the poll with just under a third of the 5,000 or so votes.

Joining him is his current club and former county team-mate and current Hurler of the Year TJ Reid, while Galway legend Joe Cooney is a very worthy addition alongside them.
