Shane Bennett was on flying form on Sunday afternoon.
Bennett ended up scoring the decisive goal in injury time of Waterford’s remarkable comeback over Galway but long before he found the net, he was showing off some clever thinking from the sideline.
It initially looked like Bennett was leaving the sideline cut to teammate Jamie Barron but on closer inspection, Bennett gave the slightest touch to the sliotar, which enabled Barron to fire home a gorgeous point.
The creativity from Bennett and Barron resulted in Waterford’s fifth unanswered point of the second half, having trailed 2-11 to 0-7 going into the break.

After looking out of it at half-time, Waterford stormed back with a thrilling second half performance at Walsh Park which culminated in a Bennett goal four minutes into the five minutes of injury time.
The 3,371 in attendance left happy after the hosts limited Galway to two second-half points while Waterford took full advantage of the wind to set up a dramatic finish.
Bennett poked the ball home from an acute angle after being played in by Peter Hogan to cap off a stunning comeback and remind supporters that he’s got more in his locker than being a cute hoor from set pieces.
