Cork have done the double once again after the county’s ladies footballers overcame Dublin this afternoon to lift the All-Ireland senior title by 0-12 to 0-10
A scoring spree at the start of the second half proved the key turning point in the game as the Munster side took the lead which they never relinquished.
The teams were level at the short whistle at 0-5 each but two Valerie Mulcahy frees after half-time opened up the lead for Cork and Dublin could never find parity afterwards despite their efforts.
Mulcahy was crucial to the champions success as her deadball skills proved a killer everytime Dublin fouled within 30 yards of goal.
Her final free of the afternoon also came after she had missed two seemingly simpler chances just minutes before but it was enough to hand the county their 10th All-Ireland senior side in 11 years.

The sides went in at the break level at 0-5 each with both sides unhappy surely with their opening 30minutes.
Dublin worked hard to limit the Cork opportunities with the Munster side struggling to bread down the massed defence, while they also kicked five wides.
At the other end of the field the Dublin attack with Niamh McEvoy and Lyndsey Davey lively gave Cork problems with direct running
McEvoy especially was a huge threat and she managed to wiggle her way through the Rebelettes cover to score a wonderful solo effort in the first half.

Dublin’s discipline was in contrast to that of Cork who by the 20th minute had committed twice as many fouls as their opponents but Dublin had failed to capitalise with six wides in the opening 30 minutes.
The win means that Rena Buckley and Briege Corkery have now 10 All-Ireland senior football medals and 16 in total that compliments their camogie success.
