Poll: Will Tiernan McCann’s eight-week ban be overturned tonight?

Tyrone man's appearance against Kerry in the balance

Kevin McGillicuddy

Eight weeks.

That’s how long the GAA feel Tiernan McCann should be banned from football for after falling down after a  slight hair rustle from Darren Hughes during this month’s All-Ireland qualifier between Tyrone and Monaghan.

The player was hit with the unusual ban after what Tyrone feel is a media frenzy following the incident, while many believe the ban is much too strong for someting that resulted in no injury to any party.

As it stands the player will miss Sunday’s All-Ireland semi final with Kerry this weekend, but that will all depend on one meeting tonight.

Reports this afternoon suggest that the player will be in Croke Park tonight for a meeting with the Central Hearings Committee to try and appeal his ban.

McCann it’s believed was given an eight week ban under the rules for discrediting the Association, but it is expected that the players ban will be reduced or completely overturned.
