Player of the year nominee Philly McMahon will not appeal the one-match ban imposed following an incident involving Kieran Donaghy in the All-Ireland final.
The corner-back sought a hearing after the Central Competitions Control Committee proposed the ban but the Irish Examiner report this morning that, after last night’s meeting in Croke Park, Dublin have decided not to take the case any further.
McMahon will now miss the opening match of Dublin’s National League title defence, coincidentally against Kerry in Croke Park on January 30.
McMahon made contact with the Kerry captain’s eye in the closing stages of the All-Ireland final but denied intentionally gouging Donaghy.
