We can see this receiving a lot of support.
There was much disappointment amongst sports fans in Ireland this week when it emerged that Seo Spóirt would no longer be part of TG4’s schedule from April onwards.
Presented by former All-Ireland winning Kerry captain Dara Ó’Cinnéide, the show has been running for 11 years, covers a wide range of sports and regularly features insightful contributors such as Tomás Ó’Sé, Clare midfielder Gary Brennan and Seán Bán Breathnach amongst others.
The news that it was coming to an end was greeted with much shock and disappointment earlier this week, with Dublin footballer Ciaran Kilkenny amongst those to express their dismay at the news.
Crushing to hear the end of @SeoSpoirtTG4 Insightful coverage treasured by Gaeilgeoirs and non-gaeilgeoirs .Shouldn't be let go.

Mór an trua nach mbeidh @SeoSpoirtTG4 ag craoladh arís. Clár iontach agus jab iontach déanta ag Dara agus an foireann go léir.

Disappointed if it's true @SportTG4 are killing off @SeoSpoirtTG4 shortly. Does tv believe there's no audience for insightful sports debate?

Really sad to see Seó Spóirt coming to an end after 11 years on air. One of highlights of TG4 schedule. You'll be missed Dara, Gemma & team pic.twitter.com/T2DkT7jPO5

Silly move by TG4 getting rid of Seo Spoirt and I can't even speak the lingo

In response, a petition has been launched in an effort to convince Alan Esslemont, who came on board as TG4’s director-general last year, to reverse the decision, which has been labelled “deeply unpopular”, with Esslemont urged to acknowledge “the huge outcry since the decision was announced”.
You can check out the petition and add your signature if you wish here; given the popularity of the show and the shocked response to its axing earlier this week, we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a lot of support.
