“During these dark winter nights, people have gone to extraordinary lengths to make this a championship to remember.”
A week to Christmas. A day to the All-Ireland football final. We made it.
There’s no need to go back over what a strange and difficult year this has been for everyone and how there will still be struggles ahead. But, with all the hardship and heartache endured, with winter fading into another winter, there’ll be lights in Croke Park on Saturday evening.
And two of Gaelic football’s greatest rivals will be going at it for as hard as they can just like the good, old days. Just like things will be normal for 70 minutes at least.
Sky Sports’ coverage of this winter championship has earned rightful plaudits and, for one last time in 2020, they’ll broadcast the football and what a way to build it up.
Former Kildare minor and under 21 footballer, Paul Mescal, has gone and made a bit of a name for himself this year but his roots are still very much grounded in the GAA.
Since I can't manage to find Con on twitter, I'm going to pretend that I roasted him that day. IT IS NOW A FACT!

And, in a stirring All-Ireland final promo for Dublin v Mayo on Saturday evening, Mescal narrates the spine-tingling piece.
“Will normal service be resumed after all? Or will there be one final twist to this unforgettable year?”
