Cavan defeated Mayo at MacHale Park at Castlebar this afternoon, by a score of 1-17 to 1-14 in their opening game of the All-Ireland round robin stage.
It now leaves Mayo with a bit of mountain to climb if they want to make the quarter-finals, with Tyrone and Ulster champions Donegal also in their group.
One stat in particular summed up how monumental the win was, and that was the fact that it was Cavan's first championship win over Mayo since 1948.
