No road to redemption.
It looks as if Tipperary will have win Liam McCarthy the hard way with reports coming out that Cathal Barrett will not be recalled to the squad to face Galway.
The Irish Independent is reporting that the 2016 All-Star will not be recalled into Michael Ryan’s side ahead of the All-Ireland semi-final.
Barrett had been axed from the Tipperary squad after losing to Cork in the Munster quarter final for disciplinary reasons and manager Michael Ryan has opted not to recall the corner-back.
Speaking on the latest episode of the GAA Hour, former Galway hurler Damien Hayes believed that Ryan would be right not to recall Barrett.
“If the likes of Barrett comes into that team I think it will do a lot of harm to the harmony of that squad. How will the likes of Mickey Cahill take it and all these guys that have been training?
“I just can’t see him doing it and the second reason I can’t see him doing it is they were saying for the league final that they didn’t take off Barrett for the league final because he was coming back from injury, and he needed game time, and he needed to get hurling into him, and he was very poor in the league final. Now he’s been out of the game for another couple of weeks so are they actually going to chance him,” added Hayes.
“Now he’s been out of the game for another couple of weeks so are they actually going to chance putting him in against a Galway full forward line again?”
Seemingly not.
