Lar Corbett explains toilet mishap caused him to miss start of second half in 2012 semi final

The 2012 All-Ireland hurling semi final was a day to forget for Tipperary hurling fans.

Tipperary suffered a record defeat to the cats when they lost by 18 points in a scoreline of 4-24 to 1-15.

2010 Player of the Year Lar Corbett hit headlines for missing the start of the second half of that game and has now went into detail about what happened.

The 36-year-old was on the latest episode of SportsJOE Live and revealed all:

“So, the half time thing. There’s 10 minutes or 12 minutes at half time and every other match before half time there’d be a minute or two to get together and the players would come around in a huddle.

“So the players went around in a huddle and I had to use the toilet so I said I’d just be a minute or two so I went in and I went to use the toilet and I came out and I was definitely, only, max 50 seconds using the toilet and I came back out, there was no one in the dressing room. Empty,” Corbett said.

“So, when I went out then the referee was after blowing the whistle and I went out about 20/25 seconds late and everyone thinks I missed the second half, I didn’t miss the 35 minutes.

“Now, I didn’t touch the ball for 35 minutes alright but that’s exactly it, I came out and couldn’t believe everyone was gone that’s as simple as that. There’s no other bigger story,” the three-time All Star concluded,
