Croke Park has seen plenty of history made inside the whites lines over the years.
But today it’s something taking place in the stands that has entered the record books.
Ladies Football organisers were hoping to set a new record this afternoon for the biggest crowd at a female sporting event in Europe this year.
The Women’s FA cup final staged at Wembley earlier in the year held the record this year at 30,710 but today’s attendance proved to be even larger with a crowd over over 31,000 eager supporters coming together for the junior, intermediate and senior finals with six counties involved in the three games.
Throughout the monster support got to see some cracking football, the main event of which saw Cork see off Dublin by 0-12 to 0-10.
