Jim McGuinness made a stir on TV last night but he is unlikely to watch it back

Not caught in the Netflix

Jim McGuinness’s chat on the Late Late Show last night has the nation talking but it’s unlikely he drew inspiration from previous interviews.

Jimmy is too busy winning matches to watch television.

In an interview in today’s Irish Times the Sky Sports pundit admits an indifference to most forms of broadcast media – saying he could easily drive from Donegal to Dublin without turning on the radio.

That is a lot of time to think.

When he does turn on the tube, he is looking at sport, Sky News or maybe a documentary. He sounds bemused and befuddled by the Netflix phenomenon. Someone should let him know they are making some pretty good documentaries these days.

“I would never watch a series. I’d never watch drama. Documentaries or sport, that’s it. The boys in Celtic ask me, ‘do you watch The Wire, do you watch this or that?’, and I’m saying ‘no, I don’t even know what that is’, and they’re ‘Whaaaaat?’ Them and all the staff, with their iPads or whatever, they’d be watching Netflix. I wouldn’t have a clue.”

The All-Ireland winning manager is a focused individual but we knew that already.
