Jim Gavin has some good news about Michael Darragh Macauley

He should be back soon

James McCarthy was slotted into midfield against Carlow on Saturday night.

The Ballymun Kickhums man did well, given it’s not his natural position, but it is not ideal for Jim Gavin to have to throw one of the best wing backs in the country into midfield.

Michael Darragh Macauley would be the man to normally accompany Brian Fenton in the centre of the park but he wasn’t fit to play.

Macauley came off injured in a club game against St. Oliver Plunketts back in April and has not played since.

Not much has been revealed about the extent of Macauley’s injury as Jim Gavin has kept his cards close to his chest.

But he did have some good news after the win over Carlow by saying that the Ballyboden St.Enda’s man is back on the training pitch.

He told reporters,

“Michael’s back, he’s back on the pitch now. Himself and a good few other players are on that path to return to play and hopefully we’ll see them back shortly.

“We never put an exact date on these but they’ll be back shortly.”

Dublin fans can now expect they will see the former Player of the Year line out the side once more before the year is out.
