The SportsJOE Podcast panel discussed what is prompting young GAA players to move to Australia, after stars Kobe McDonald (Mayo) and Ben Murphy (Kerry) signed for St Kilda and the Brisbane Lions respectively.
Kobe, son of Mayo great, Ciarán McDonald, is seen as one of the best Gaelic football prospects in recent memory, after a standout season with the Crossmolina Deel Rovers’ senior side.
Many are now calling on a compensation agreement being necessary between the AFL and GAA, while others can fully understand why an Irish teenager would want to travel abroad to further their career.
