Odhrán McKenna is a fighter.
And the Antrim teenager will need all his battling qualities to see off the biggest challenge of his short life.
The dual star is still in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in a road crash last Friday night.
He was placed in an induced coma over the weekend to give his injuries a greater chance to heal, and it was hoped that he would start to be brought round this week.
Earlier today his club, Naomh Eoin, gave a positive update on McKenna:
‘Great news this morning as Odhrán has woken from sedation and is being continuously assessed by the ICU team..
‘Please keep your prayers coming for continued improvement to his condition and positive outcome. Thanks again to everybody for their ongoing support.’
This was the statement that McKenna’s family released, through Naomh Eoin, on Wednesday.
The teenager has been receiving support from far and wide since the weekend.
Thinking & praying 4 Odhrán McKenna. Gael iontach. Beannachtai 4 him & his clann & clubmates in Naomh Éoghan.
