Top bloke.
We are already on record, here at SportsJOE, in saying Austin Gleeson is seriously sound.
Only two weeks ago, we were raving about the amount of time the Waterford hurler gave to a young Déise fan after his team were beaten in the Munster final.
A fortnight on and the legend grows.
We were contacted by Wayne Ryan, today, on Facebook. He told us about a superb gesture by Gleeson. Wayne wrote:
‘I’m having a benefit night for my late father in aid of the Waterford Hospice and Irish Cancer Society, who will receive half of the monies raised each.
‘I asked Austin Gleeson for a jersey for an auction and today got delivered this, his first Senior Munster Final Jersey signed by the team which must be of huge sentimental value.
‘There’s no end to the young chaps kindness and class. He’s one in a billion.’
He sure is.
*The fundraiser is on Friday, August 7 at the Roanmore Centre. Email wayneryan6@gmail.com if you want to bid for the jersey.
