Martin Odegaard’s 2015 visit to Melwood looks to have left a lasting impact.
Last year the Norwegian starlet took a trip around the training grounds of Europe’s top clubs who, at the time, were all keen on snapping up one of the most promising young players in the world.
Real Madrid won out but that move has not worked out as young Odegaard may have hoped.
The 17-year-old has made just the one senior appearance for Real since making the move from Stromsgodset as he has had to be content with performances for the B team, Real Madrid Castilla.
Zinedine Zidane does not believe that Odegaard is ready to break into the first team just yet and is keen on loaning him out to glean experience, with the Bundesliga his most likely destination.
But the Liverpool Echo claim that the prodigious midfielder is ‘desperate’ for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp now at the helm, to make a bid for him.
“Liverpool have always been my dream club,” Odegaard told German newspaper Bild in 2014 and the prospect of working with Klopp is believed to be a huge selling factor for the star whose brightness is in danger of dimming unless he gets a move this summer.
