Wilshere revealed he was considering quitting football
Jack Wilshere’s career wasn’t meant to go like this. He was Arsenal’s golden boy, he dominated the greatest midfield trio of all time at the age of 19. But a succession of injuries, and a few more injuries, saw his star fade to the point that he is now without a club before he has turned 30.
Wilshere last turned out for AFC Bournemouth, but the Championship club chose not to renew his contract at the end of last season.
In an interview with The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the former England international opened up about the challenges he has faced in recent years as his career had staggered to a halt, revealing that his children are teased at school about the fact he doesn’t have a club.

But Wilshere’s fortunes could be about to change, if he fancies moving up north to play in League One.
On Wednesday night, Wigan Athletic chairman Talal Al Hammad tweeted, offering Wilshere a place in his squad.
“You are most welcome to join Wigan,” he wrote, adding #BELIEVE, for some reason.

Wilshere is yet to respond to the offer, and one would suspect he is less than keen on playing in the third tier of English football. But as he admits in Wednesday’s interview, he has no offers on the table. What does he have to lose?
