West Ham release possibly the most unique kit you’ll see this season

You've probably never seen a jersey like this before...

Robert Redmond

Top marks for effort.

Football kits nowadays tend to follow a stock template, but West Ham’s new kit is about as unique a kit you’ll see this season.

Inspired by the club’s forerunners Thames Ironworks FC, the commemorative kit will be worn for next Sunday’s game against Juventus at the Olympic Stadium. The all-black jersey resembles a polo shirt, more than a football jersey.

The entire kit will set fans back £90 (€106) and could also be worn for the club’s FA Cup games this season.

The jersey arguably sums up the nature of modern football, in which a private company utilises it’s working class roots to charge loyal fans a hefty price for a piece of merchandise.

Still though, it’s a pretty unique kit.
