The lure of that sweet, sweet cash is very strong.
West Ham have received a bid of £35m for Marko Arnautovic from an unnamed Chinese club. The offer is reported to include astronomical wages that would be very difficult for the player to turn down.
The forward, 29, is the joint-top scorer for West Ham this season with eight goals in 17 games in all competitions, but has previously hinted at leaving the east London club for a “new challenge”.
He joined the Hammers for a club record £20m fee from Stoke in July 2017 and has become one of their best players after a rocky start at the London stadium.
West Ham have no plans to sell the Austrian forward, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2020.
Arnautovic scored the opener for West Ham against Birmingham City in the FA Cup at the weekend but reacted angrily to being substituted after just half an hour, making it abundantly clear to manager Manuel Pellegrini that he didn’t appreciate the tactical change.
