It wasn’t just David de Gea winning plaudits for his impressive goalkeeping reflexes over the weekend.
As the Manchester United ‘keeper pulled off a couple of fine saves in Manchester United’s win at Southampton, an MLS game between Portland Timbers and New York Red Bulls produced a stunning double save.
Red Bulls goalkeeper, Luis Robles, appeared to have been wrong footed when a free-kick ricocheted off his wall. Incredibly, he was able to react quickly enough to alter his course and get something on the deflected effort to prevent a goal.
As a Timbers player with an impressive beard followed up the for what looked like a certain tap in, Robles somehow managed to react again and get his body in the way of the rebound effort.
Double the saves, double the fun. #PORvNY https://t.co/JwxxsEHcDC
