Five Premier League players make up shortlist for Team of the Year
Following on from their selection of the best defenders in the world…and David Luiz, FIFA have now revealed who they feel are the best midfielders on the planet.
And to be fair to Sepp Blatter and the boys and girls of FIFA they have come up with a fairly impressive list.
The Premier League makes up a third of the candidates for the Team of the Year with Cesc Fàbregas, Ángel Di Maria, Eden Hazard, Mesut Özil and Yaya Touré all shortlisted.
We’re not sure how they’re going to whittle this lot down to just three players with incredible talent such as Toni Kroos, Andrés Iniesta and Paul Pogba all on the list.
The strikers and eventual team of the year will be revealed on Monday.
