WATCH: Robbie Brady rescues Burnley with stunning 96th minute free kick

Conan Doherty

Robbie Brady doesn’t have a sweet left foot. Sweet left feet have Robbie Brady.

Irish fans know all about the Dubliner – not just his skill, not just that left peg, but his nerve too. They know he has bottle. They know he can deliver when it matters.

So there he is, 24 yards from goal at Turf Moor, Burnley are 2-1 down, 96 minutes are on the clock and Championship leaders Leeds are heading to the next round of the League Cup. One kick stands between them and victory but one kick is all that Robbie Brady needs.

With just seconds left of the six minutes of time added on, Brady stepped up to force extra time after drilling a beauty into the top left corner.

From almost the middle of the goals, his free kick was whipped delicious into that near top corner as he saw it.

Sean Dyche reacts by taking a drink of water, cool as you like. Robbie Brady was there, what did you think was going to happen? That’s what we got from his celebration anyway.

Burnley lived to fight another period but eventually went down on penalties. Regardless, the 25-year-old’s reputation goes onto another level again.
