Philippe Coutinho has finally got on the scoresheet for Barcelona following his £142 million move from Liverpool.
The Brazilian international made his Barcelona debut against Espanyol last month in a 2-0 win at Camp Nou.
The 25-year-old made further appearances against Deportivo Alaves, Valencia and Espanyol again, before finally opening his account for the Catalan giants in the second leg of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final on Thursday.
Coutinho broke the deadlock after latching onto a superb cross from Luis Suarez to steer the ball inside the far post and into the back of the net.
Barcelona went on to win the match 2-0 and will now advance to the Copa del Rey final after winning 3-0 on aggregate.
Coutinho has developed a steady understanding with Suarez and should have assisted one of his goals on his debut against Espanyol if it had not have been for an exceptional double save from goalkeeper Pau López.
