There’s no defending against that.
Luis Suarez added another fine entry into his personal collection of wonder goals on Sunday evening when he conjured up a piece of magic to score for Barcelona.
Liverpool fans will remember the Uruguayan as both a scorer of great goals and a great goal-scorer, and he certainly lived up to the former billing against Real Sociedad.
Receiving a pass from Lionel Messi, the 30-year-old forward threatened to put his laces through the ball before deftly lifting it into the air instead. With an unerring swerve, it sailed into the top corner beyond a helpless Geronimo Rulli in nets for the home side at the Estadio Anoeta.
Outrageous curler from Luis Suarez to make it 2-2. Brilliant. #SociedadBarca pic.twitter.com/ksWWSaLOkm

It was a sumptuous effort from Suarez – and one that bore striking similarities to one scored by Samuel Eto’o, also for Barcelona, years ago in the Champions League, which you can watch below. Keep an eye out for a teenage Messi once again providing the assist.
Suarez has now scored in his last five games for the runaway La Liga leaders so his rich vein of form perhaps explains why he had the confidence and audacity to attempt such an effort. Then again, he’s always been that kind of player.
Suarez went on to score his second before Messi delivered an emphatic final say on Barca’s 4-2 victory, scoring this beautiful free-kick. Ernesto Valverde’s men are nine points clear at the top of the table and, with performances like this, it’s not hard to see how they’ve opened up such a lead at the summit.
