No wonder Lionel Messi is retiring from international football.
The Argentina captain announced on Sunday night that he’s finished with the national team following their loss to Chile on penalties in the Copa America final.
The game finished goalless after 120 minutes and Messi missed from the spot during the 4-2 shoot-out defeat. Chile’s victory means Argentina’s 23 year wait to win an international tournament continues.

The current Argentina team have also lost three finals in the last three years, and Messi was crestfallen following the game.
“For me the national team is over. I’ve done all I can, it hurts not to be a champion,” the 29-year-old said.
However, he didn’t offer his take on this Gonzalo Higuain miss.
The Napoli striker was clear through on goal in the first half of the final, and somehow conspired to miss.
Higuain has previous for missing big chances in finals.
