Watch: Edinson Cavani with one of the most passionate goal celebrations you’ll see this season

He enjoyed that

Robert Redmond

This was reminiscent of Marco Tardelli.

The Italian, former Republic of Ireland assistant manager, will forever be remembered for his passionate celebration after scoring in the 1982 World Cup final.

Tardelli smashed the ball home from the edge of the box as Italy beat Germany in Madrid, before running off delirious, eyes bulging and arms waving, pumping his fists.

Although Edinson Cavani’s celebration wasn’t quite on that level, he was absolutely ecstatic after scoring what proved to be winner against Chelsea.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker came off the bench in the Champions League last-16 first-leg tie after 74 minutes, and four minutes later put the French side ahead with a fantastic finish past Thibaut Courtois in the Chelsea goal.

Cavani missed a series of chances in previous Champions League ties involving the pair, so maybe that’s why he was so happy to score tonight.
