WATCH: Daryl Horgan scores free-kick and a stunning solo goal in front of Martin O’Neill

Fans are calling for him to be in the Ireland squad...

The Republic of Ireland of Ireland travel to Vienna for their next World Cup qualifier on November 12, and many Irish football fans would like to see Daryl Horgan included in the squad.

On the evidence on his showing on Tuesday night at Oriel Park in Dundalk’s game against Cork City, Horgan certainly wouldn’t look out of place in the national squad for the game against Austria.

Martin O’Neill, who has said he hasn’t included Dundalk players in the Ireland squad due to their fixture congestion, was there to witness Horgan score twice in the first-half.

There was just one point separating the teams going coming into tonight’s game, but it took Horgan just seven minutes to open the scoring.

The 24-year-old lofted a free-kick over the Cork wall, connecting with the crossbar, and goalkeeper Mark McNulty before going in.

Horgan’s second was a bit special.

The Galway-born winger picked up the ball just outside Dundalk’s penalty area, after a Cork attack broke down, and ran the length of the pitch to score, dribbling past one player and smashing the ball home before three Cork defenders got the chance to dispossess him.

Horgan’s display went down well with those watching the game on RTE.
