We don’t think this would have been a part of the gameplan relayed to Darren Randolph by Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane.
In fact, the Republic of Ireland manager and his assistant were probably unable to even shout their disapproval towards the Irish stopper because both hearts were firmly filling their mouths.
Towards the end of the first half of Ireland’s crucial Group E clash with Italy, Randolph decided to get fancy… Insanely fancy.
With Simone Zaza closing down quickly, Randolph channelled his inner Johan Cruyff and broke out a delightful turn of momentum on his own six yard line.

He pulled it off, thankfully, and Twitter lapped it up.
