Watch: Awful goalkeeping error gifts Marcus Rashford a goal for Manchester United

Rashford made up some ground to get there though...

Another debut, another goal for Marcus Rashford.

The 18-year-old Manchester United forward has scored on his first appearance in the Premier League, the Europa League, for the English senior and U21 teams and now on his League Cup debut – thanks to some dodgy goalkeeping.

The Northampton Town ‘keeper made a mess of a long Ander Herrera clearance over the top late in the game against United. Rather than leave his penalty area and clear the ball, Adam Smith let it bounce, and then took a wayward swing at it.

By which point Rashford, who had sprinted over half the length of the pitch to reach the ball, had rounded him and scored United’s third of the night in their 3-1 win.

The Northampton ‘keeper could do nothing about United’s second, a stinging shot from distance by Herrera.
