Cesc Fabregas 100th cap for Spain was a night he’d really like to forget.
The Chelsea midfielder became only the 11th centurion in Spanish international football history during their Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine. How did he mark it? Well, by missing a penalty, of course.
Spain were awarded a penalty not too long after taking the lead and Fabregas stepped up to take it. Unfortunately for the former Barcelona and Arsenal star he saw his spot-kick saved, making it four misses out of four attempts from the spot for Spain, excluding shoot-outs.
Although the Ukraine keeper did well to keep the ball out, the TV coverage suggests he may have been put off by a fan shining a laser pointer in his eyes before making his run-up.
