After England dominated their Euro 2016 opener in Marseille, there was something oh so predictable about what happened a couple of minutes into stoppage time.
Trailing 1-0 to Eric Dier’s thumping free-kick and having offered very little in the way of attacking threat, Russia did this…
GOAL! Russia equalise in added time, cruel for England #ENGRUS #EURO2016 https://t.co/JA2iF91dw1

This after England carved the Russian defence wide open at will in the first half without managing to score and being the superior side for large spells of the second half, too.
Cruel? Yes. But do Wales fans give a shit? Of course they don’t. Not one bit.
The late Russian equaliser means that the Welsh, back in a major football tournament for the first time in over fifty years, are two points clear at the top of Group B following their 2-1 victory over Slovakia earlier in the afternoon. And their supporters were quick to remind England fans of this in the moments after the final whistle.

But hey, at least this England fan was concentrating on the real issues from the day…

England and Wales meet on Thursday at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens. Thanks to that late, late Russian equaliser, that match has taken on *even more* significance for Roy Hodgson’s team.
