VINE: Sevilla’s goalkeeping howler upstaged by incredible strike from Hulk

Hot potato

Kevin McGillicuddy

It’s understood he’s asked a ball boy for a shovel to dig a hole to hide in after this mistake

If this happened to your goalkeeper at five-a-side you’d be well within your right to bawl him out of it.

So we can only imagine what the Sevilla manager Unai Emery will be saying to his goalkeeper Beto after this calamity worthy of David James tonight in their Europa league second leg clash with Zenit St Petersburg.

The La Liga side took an early lead and looked very comfortable until this harmless looking cross  from Oleg Shatov was dropped by Beto to allow Jose Rondon to slam home to make it 1-1 on the night and 3-2 in the tie.

Brian Kerr lamented that you woundn’t see a mistake like that in the Phoenix Park, and we take that as quite an insult to our efforts on a Sunday morning.

Currently it’s still 1-1 with Sevilla just ahead over the two legs 3-2.

UPDATE

And just as we had got over the shocking effort from Beto he’s been beaten for a second time by an absolute screamer from Hulk.

The goalkeeper couldn’t do much  the striker launched a missile towards goal with Beto just about getting a hand to it.

He did enough to palm it out but Jose Rondon was there to slam home the goal and make it 2-1 and 3-3 in the tie

Incredibly that wasn’t the end of the goals as  Kevin Gameiro scored in the 85th minute to make it 2-2 on the night and see the Spanish side secure their place in the last four 4-3 on aggregate.
