VINE: Eamon Dunphy slated Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri after Manchester City’s Champions League exit

Wouldn’t be like Eamon to lose the cool

As if Manchester City weren’t feeling bad enough about their exit from Europe last night, but one of the wise men of Irish football dolled out a severe verbal bashing as well. Joe Hart was in outstanding form but even he couldn’t prevent his club from suffering a 1-0 defeat to Barcelona at Camp Nou and an aggregate 3-1 loss over the two legs.

Hart was superb but unfortunately a number of his teammates failed to get up to the mark with RTE’s panel of Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady tearing strips of Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri. Dunphy was at his vitriolic best and worst last night as he referred several times to Toure’s strop last year when he didn’t get a birthday cake from his club, while he also described the Frenchman as a pup.

It’s doubtful that either players will be too bothered by Dunphy’s comments but there really is no sight in Irish sport like when Eamon gets his grump on.
