We feel a retrospective ban coming on
Chelsea’s lead at the top of the Premier League remains at 7 points after a 1-0 win over Everton tonight. Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy both started for the Toffees at Stamford Bridge as Willian’s goal in the 89th minute set them up for a vital three points with Manchester City beating Stoke City 4-1.
The goal came after Everton had put up a great resistance but their concentration dropped in the final minutes after Gareth Barry received a second yellow card for tripping Willian. There was a little scuffle after the red card and Branislav Ivanovic and James McCarthy got caught up in some verbals. The Serb defender then grabbed the Republic of Ireland midfielder and appeared to aim a headbutt at him.
McCarthy was booked for the incident but it’s the Chelsea man who can feel rather fortunate he wasn’t given his marching orders for the sneaky dig. Jose may have another reason to moan about the FA after this if the defender gets a ban
