Not ‘The Gilet One’ anymore
Tim Sherwood held his first press conference as Aston Villa manager this afternoon, the day after he guided watched his new side record a 2-1 win over Leicester in the FA Cup.
The former Tottenham manager is known for his love of fashion and sported a lovely looking scarf yesterday, but he declined to wear the one thing the fashion police demanded today, a gilet.
We’re as devoted to ‘Off The Rails’ and Vogue magazine as the next SportsJOE, but even we know that wearing what Irish people refer to as a ‘bodywarmer’ makes you look like a cross between the Michelin man and a lagging jacket.
However, during Sherwood’s brief time in charge of Tottenham the gilet became his symbol.
It was his Tony Pulis baseball cap or like Fergie’s chewing gum. It represented all that was good and honest about ‘Tim the footballing trendsetter’.
So imagine the disappointment when he didn’t wear one to his opening day press conference as Villa manager. The media were stunned and naturally had to question Sherwood about the shocking omission:
